Loving Hands

Community Service Ministry

Serve Together

We strive to give our time, talents, and resources in order to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
– 1 John 3:18

As Christians, Jesus calls us to care deeply about Him and those He has placed around us in our families, workplaces, and neighborhoods. When asked which commandment was most important, He answered: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” –Matthew 22:37-39

One way to love out neighbors is to serve. Sometimes that love is cleaning up our local parks. Sometimes it’s helping to build a neighbor’s fence or fix a roof. The Church has Left the Building is our largest local service event here at Summit and one we look forward to all year long.

Prayer Quilt Ministry

Loving hands is a community outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt from church members. The purpose of Loving Hands is to not only distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts.

After a quilt is completed, it is brought to the church for prayer. As each knot is tied, a prayer is offered for a person in need – someone who has asked us to pray for them. The finished quilt goes to that person as a silent testimony to our belief in the power of prayer.

The members of the Loving Hands Prayer Quilt Ministry meet the last Saturday of every month, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, to work on their current prayer quilt projects. We would love to have you join us!

All materials are provided but feel free to bring your own projects or sewing machine. Everyone is welcome regardless of age or sewing skill level. We can teach you all you need to know or you can simply come and enjoy great fellowship with other believers.

Quilt Requests &
Community Donations

Loving Hands accepts quilt requests from everyone for themselves or for someone they know. You do not have to be a member of Summit to request a quilt.

Quilt requests can be submitted to Lindsay Soto at sbcwiggins@gmail.com. Please include your contact information, and if they are comfortable with it, the name of the person the quilt is for and their prayer request. Quilt requests are completed as soon as possible.

Loving Hands also makes prayer quilt donations to organizations in our community.  If you would like to request prayer quilt donations for your organization, please contact Lindsay Soto sbcwiggins@gmail.com.

Organizations donated to: Morgan County Baby Bear Hugs, and Valley View Villa.
