What is AWANA?

AWANA is a Bible-based, Christ centered program for children. It is an international Bible centered youth ministry club whose primary goal is to teach boys and girls the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. It includes Scripture memory, Biblical principles, games, activities, songs, uniforms, badges, and awards. It is a great honor to serve God in this way and to lead children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

The word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from the theme Bible verse of 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

AWANA at Summit

The AWANA Program at SBC runs from September through May and we meet on Wednesday nights from 5PM-8PM.

We create a fun and exciting atmosphere to learn in by dividing our meetings into two segments:

  • Free Family Dinner       5:30PM-6:30PM
  • Awana Club Meeting   6:30PM-8PM

In AWANA Cubbies, preschoolers have a fun, friendly place to learn about God’s greatness. Kids in Cubbies learn basic truths about God, Jesus, and salvation through fun handbooks, picture teaching cards and more.

Sparks ignites the curiosity of kids to learn about the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. Kids in Sparks get used to opening their Bibles to open, explore, and memorize their Bibles.

The Truth & Training Club teaches kids the truth of God’s Word, how to follow Him, and practice His grace. This club dives deeper into the attributes of God, and the importance of Biblical theology.
